"This week, more than 300 slam poets who comprise 68 teams from across the United States and Canada will hit West Palm Beach for five days of seminars, showcases and intense word battles in eight venues, including Howley's on Dixie Highway and half a dozen bars along Clematis Street.

By day, the 20th annual National Poetry Slam will include a nerd slam, haiku sessions and showcases for hip-hop, erotica, comedy, and Latino, Asian-American and African-American poetry. By night, teams will compete in three evenings of preliminary bouts, followed by a night of semifinals and ultimately the Saturday finals at the Palm Beach Convention Center."
